Mike and I on a recent hike in Kananaskis Country
My name is Chandra. I am a runner and a foodie, and over the last year or two have developed a love for backpacking as well. I live in Kentucky with my boyfriend Mike. Both of us studied biomechanics, which is how we met in Delaware (which is a rather unassuming little state on the East coast of the USA), and were both lucky enough to land jobs at the University of Calgary to be near the mountains I needed and Mike craved. We had some amazing times there and made some great friends.
In 2011 Mike got a great job in Lexington, so after a crazy year we packed up and moved back East. We are both going through major culture shock and mountain withdrawal, but are trying to make the most of the outdoor opportunities we have. After all, we are only an hour away from one of the world’s premier rock climbing areas, the Red River Gorge, and within a reasonable drive of one of the USA’s major mountain ranges, the Appalachians. It’s not the Rockies, but has its own unique beauty.
I am lucky enough to be very close to my family, my parents and two sisters, who all also share my love for the outdoors (as long as Katelyn brings the right shoes…). I am by no means a serious mountaineer, or hard-core athlete, just an active girl who loves new experiences! I want to use this blog to share the things that I love in life- running, food, friends & family, and most of all, being outside. Hopefully anyone reading this will find enjoyment and motivation to go have some adventures of their own.
